MAFI Signs Cooperation Protocol with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Egyptian Agricultural Bank to Support Contract Farming

MAFI for Agricultural Produce Industries has entered into a strategic cooperation protocol with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Egyptian Agricultural Bank, aiming to empower farmers and foster sustainable agriculture through contract farming. The agreement was signed under the patronage of Alaa Farouk, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, reflecting a commitment to enhancing agricultural productivity, improving livelihoods, and advancing Egypt’s position in agri-food exports.

This initiative seeks to provide farmers with the necessary financing and technical support to cultivate crops that meet MAFI’s requirements for manufacturing and export operations, thereby adding value to agricultural production and contributing to the national economy.

The signing ceremony was attended by Eng. Mostafa El-Sayed, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Sami Abdel Sadeq, Acting Chairman of the Egyptian Agricultural Bank, and Ahmed Abou Hashima, Chairman of MAFI for Agricultural Produce Industries, alongside senior representatives from the ministry, the bank, and MAFI.

Driving Growth Through Contract Farming

Minister Alaa Farouk emphasized that under the agreement, MAFI will nominate farmers to the Egyptian Agricultural Bank for financing their cultivation of high-quality crops, in alignment with MAFI’s manufacturing and export standards. The bank will evaluate these financing requests and provide loans tailored to each crop, enabling farmers to secure the resources they need for efficient and sustainable production.

The Ministry’s Contract Farming Center will play a pivotal role in offering farmers agricultural guidance and technical support, ensuring optimal yields that meet both local and international quality benchmarks.

Commitment to Farmers and the National Economy

Ahmed Abou Hashima, Chairman of MAFI, expressed his confidence in this collaboration, stating that the protocol marks a key milestone in supporting the agricultural sector and advancing Egypt’s food processing industry. Through this partnership, farmers will receive the technical expertise and resources they need to produce premium-quality crops, which will enhance their productivity and income while aligning with global export standards.

He further highlighted MAFI’s commitment to using locally sourced agricultural raw materials for export-driven food production, boosting foreign currency revenues and strengthening Egypt’s role in the global agri-food market.

Abou Hashima added that MAFI will work closely with the Egyptian Agricultural Bank to provide financial solutions that enable farmers and agricultural cooperatives to deliver top-tier crops for processing and export. This partnership underscores MAFI’s dedication to building a sustainable and innovative agri-food ecosystem, enhancing food security and economic development.

Enhancing Agricultural Financing

Sami Abdel Sadeq, Acting Chairman of the Egyptian Agricultural Bank, reiterated the bank’s role in supporting agricultural transformation and driving comprehensive development. He noted that the bank is committed to expanding its portfolio of contract farming loans, offering tailored financial services to farmers, and removing barriers to accessing credit.

By empowering farmers with financial resources and eliminating challenges, the bank aims to improve their productivity, boost their incomes, and contribute to the modernization of Egypt’s agricultural sector.

This protocol is a testament to the shared vision of the Ministry of Agriculture, MAFI, and the Egyptian Agricultural Bank to create a sustainable, export-driven agriculture industry that meets the demands of both local and international markets.
