Ahmed Abou Hashima Unveils Landmark $300 Million Agri-Food Industrial Complex, Setting a New Benchmark for the Middle East, with the Egyptian Prime Minister in Attendance
In a historic announcement, renowned entrepreneur Ahmed Abou Hashima, Founder and Chairman of MAFI for Agricultural Produce Industries, has unveiled an ambitious $300 million agri-food industrial complex poised to become the largest of its kind in the Middle East. The signing ceremony, held at the Council of Ministers headquarters, was graced by the presence of Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Egypt’s Prime Minister, alongside Ahmed Samir, Minister of Industry, Hossam Hibah, CEO of the General Authority for Investment, and representatives of global industry leaders specializing in advanced agri-food technologies.
This visionary project underscores MAFI’s commitment to reshaping the region’s agricultural sector through innovation, sustainability, and advanced technology.
A Visionary Industrial Complex
Set across 154,000 square meters in Industria Sadat City, this state-of-the-art facility will comprise five advanced plants, solidifying Egypt’s leadership in agricultural processing. The complex boasts several unprecedented features:
- Egypt’s largest production plants for orange and tomato concentrates, alongside other citrus and fruit products.
- The Middle East’s first cloudy product plant, a groundbreaking initiative for the region.
- One of the world’s largest freeze-drying facilities, designed for processing fruits and vegetables.
- A cutting-edge freezing factory, ensuring efficient storage and preservation of agricultural produce.

Phase I of the complex will deliver an annual production capacity of 100,000 tons, driving revenues of $200 million. As part of Phase II, capacity is set to double, reaching 200,000 tons, with projected revenues of $400 million, reinforcing MAFI’s role as a global leader in food processing and exports.

Comprehensive financial studies conducted by Beltone Holding Company and market analyses performed by Boston Consulting Group (BCG) ensure the complex’s financial viability and alignment with global market demands.

Ahmed Abou Hashima highlighted the transformative potential of the complex, stating its capacity to create over 7,000 direct and indirect job opportunities, contributing significantly to the Egyptian economy. By targeting 100% of production for export, the project aims to strengthen Egypt’s global market presence, enhance foreign direct investment, and generate dollar-denominated revenues.
In his remarks, Mr. Luca Bordini, General Manager of JBT Company, praised the project’s advanced technology and its ability to deliver world-class quality to international markets. Similarly, Mr. Sunil Kumar, CEO of GEA Company, commended MAFI’s forward-thinking approach, emphasizing the project’s role in boosting Egypt’s food sector and enhancing its global export capabilities.
